About

‘Samambaia’ - meaning ‘fern’ in the native Brazilian Indian tongue - bloomed from Maria Claudia’s creative drive and sincere passion for nature.

A self-taught sculptural florist, Maria Claudia’s career has grown organically over time, following stints in New York and Paris where she discovered her natural flair and affinity for floristry.

Inspired by her mother’s love of nature and her colourful and free childhood in Rio de Janeiro, Maria Claudia is joined at Samambaia by a team of floral artists who together thrive in creating arrangements that are imbued with natural movement, interesting tones and inspired by their forever changing shapes and forms.

"No flower or leaf from the same species are the same, and that’s the beauty of it all. We are forever excited and renewed by the odd ones that come in every week displaying their unique flair and character.” - Maria Claudia.

The Samambaia team specialises in large installations - dried and fresh - for all events and occasions. Maria continues to pursue her passion for woven, dried sculptures and has had the pleasure of installing them in businesses around Sydney as well as in private residences.

Environmental sustainability is front of mind at Samambaia and supported across the business in everything they do.

Welcome to our special world, we look forward to working with you.
